He was predeceased by: his parents, Hoyle Keith Koontz Jr. and Pelma Sue Essick Koontz; and his brother Grant Koontz. He is survived by: his children, Brian Koontz (Patty) of Winston Salem and Ashley Driggers of South Carolina; his sisters, Robbi Russell (Steve) of New London and Mindi Harris (Donnie Hall) of Albemarle; and his grandchildren, Andrew, Patrick, Nicholas, Savannah, Dakota and Kelsey.
