He was predeceased by : his parents, J. D. McGuinn and Catherine Skipper York. He is survived by : his wife Mollie Conrad McGuinn; his children, Marinda Maxwell (Red) of Winston-Salem, NC and William Stephenson "Steve" McGuinn, Jr. (Suzie) of Durham, NC; his grandchildren, Miller Dossett (Gus), Anna Catherine "Cassie" Maxwell and Reagan McGuinn; and his great grandchild Andrew "Drew" Dossett II.

A celebration of life was held on Thursday, April 25th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church (201 W 3rd Ave, Lexington, NC 27292).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to JDRF North Carolina Chapter, P.O. Box 1550, Hagerstown, MD 21741-1550.
