He is survived by: his wife Elsie Irene Whitaker; his stepchildren, Cindy Stevens, Ralston Baxter and Kenneth Baxter; his grandchildren, Don Whitaker Jr., Erika Moore, Justin Routh and McKenzie Baxter; and his siblings, Patsy Whitaker Price and Alton Monroe Whitaker.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Loflin Funeral Home (212 W Swannanoa Ave, Liberty, NC 27298). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Lakeview Memorial Park (3600 N O. Henry Blvd, Greensboro, NC 27405).
