He was predeceased by: his parents, James Tyler Oakley and Reavey Azalia Campbell Oakley; his siblings, James "Dicky" Oakley, Marie Joyce, Frances Wine, Shirley Craig and Joan Byrd; his sons, Carlton Hughes Jr. and Randy Yount; his grandson Tyler Jenkins; and his great grandchildren, Kayla Miller and Logan Huffman.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Rogers Oakley; and his daughters, Joan Proffitt (Russell) of Lincolnton, Roseanne Sutton (Russell) of Lincolnton, Cathy Cutshall (Ed) of Granite Falls, Bobbi Brewer (Vic) of Conover and Tina Neal (Terry) of Cherryville.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM at the Calvary's Hill Freewill Baptist Church (1914 Robert Rufty Ln, Catawba, NC 28609). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
