She was predeceased by: her parents, Paul Varner and Mary Benfield Varner; and her husband Robert Harold Lawing. She is survived by: her daughters, Kristie L. Fredell (Tim) of Lincolnton and Kathi L. Correll (Billy Jordan) of Sherrills Ford; her siblings, Judi Grice (Mike) of Lincolnton, Janet Watts (Leonard) of Lincolnton and Ricky Varner of Spokane, WA; her grandchildren, Christopher Fredell (Betsy), KateLyn Davis (Charlie McKinney), Adam Fredell (Joanne) and Luke Fredell; her great grandchildren, Robbie, Elijah and Alex; her pets, Cooper and Donner; and also Sharon Brummett.
