He is survived by: his wife Donna Thiele Smith; his daughters, Regina Bailey (Mike) of Hickory, Kellie Thiele of Granite Falls and Chasity Smith of Hickory; and his siblings, Mary Lane, Hazel Helms, Lori Williams (Kenny) and Jerry Smith. He is also survived by eight grandkids.
