He was predeceased by : his parents, Wallace Stanley Irwin and Margaret Borrow Irwin. He is survived by : his wife Barbara Jane Sarkesian-Irwin; his sister Mary Lou Spittal of Bobcageon, Canada; his stepchildren, Evan Sarkesian (Madison Banko) and Cassaundra Reichart (Eric); his stepgrandchildren, Edison, Camden and Declan Reichart; and his pet Sonny.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Lincoln County, PO Box 23, Lincolnton, NC 28093-0023.

“Although we met through a professional relationship at work, it turned into a wonderful personal relationship that lasted 20+ years . Music concerts at Pine Knob too numerous to count, pool parties at Bloomington Illinois and his generous contributions. Road trips and laughter and although our times together were often separated by months we certainly enjoyed each others company and shared friends. I’ll miss him and his dry, witty, insightful humor, his thick bacon and Bloody’s. John Fullager”
