He was predeceased by: his parents, Elbert Lester Moretz, Sr. and Treva McGuire Moretz; his brother William Howard Moretz; and his children, Darlene M. Boggs and Bobby Brian Leger.

He is survived by: his wife Betty Gentry Moretz; his children, Miranda M. Schrum (Jed), Barry M. Leger (Sha) and Michael J. Moretz; his brother Elbert L. Moretz, Jr.; and his granddaughter Maggie I. Leger.
