He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnny Edgar Rhodes, Sr. and Mary Ethel Hull Rhodes; his wife Kathy Engle Rhodes; and his siblings, Margaret Rhodes, Louise Church, Jane Causby and Ralph Rhodes.
He is survived by: his children, Brad Rhodes (Billie) of Lincolnton, Johnny "Traye" Rhodes (Sylvia) of Lincolnton, Chad Reynolds (Jennifer) of Maine and Debbie Hall (J. L.) of Galax, VA; and his sister Fran Keever Gibson (Pastor Ken Gibson) of Lincolnton. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
