He was predeceased by : his parents, Gene Costner Hester and Helen Zane Mitchell Hester; and his sister Vanessa Hester.

A graveside service was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the High Shoals Memorial Gardens (106 State St, Lincolnton, NC 28092).
