He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Clay Mauldin, Sr. and Georgia Lefler Mauldin; his wife Mary Lail Mauldin; his daughter Fleeta Mauldin; his stepson Danny Abernathy; and his brother Joseph Franklin Mauldin.
He is survived by: his daughters, Leslie Hull of Lincolnton and Patricia Clark of Albemarle; his stepsons, Gary Abernathy of Pembroke, FL and C. Scott Abernathy of Lincolnton; and his brother Larry Eugene Mauldin of Florida. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
