Lucy Goforth Mode Obituary

Lucy Goforth Mode, age 97, of Lincolnton, passed away at the home of her daughter in Hickory on Sunday, March 15, 2026.

Her funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at New Heights Baptist Church in Dallas, NC with Rev. William Brest, II officiating. Burial will follow in the Grover Cemetery in Grover, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 12:30 p.m. prior to the service.

Mrs. Mode was born March 22, 1928, in Cleveland County, to the late Frank L. Goforth and Louvenia Turner Goforth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hezzy Stephen Mode; son, Larry Evins Weast; sister, Vera Louise Goforth Ledford; and five brothers, Benjamin Franklin Goforth, James Brevard Goforth, Warren G. Goforth, Sr., Floyd Eugene Goforth, and Dennis Leroy Goforth.

Lucy loved the Lord and cherished her family. Her all-time favorite was listening to her son, Larry, sing How Great Thou Art.

She is survived by her daughters, Trudy Diane Weast of Hickory, and Janet Mode Caldwell of Granite Falls; four granddaughters, Janet Turner of Hickory, Chassidy Bollinger of Lula, GA, April Wilson of Mt. Holly, and Shelley Caldwell of Hickory; one grandson, Derek Caldwell of Granite Falls; thirteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
