He is survived by: his wife Jackie Costner Carpenter; his children, Jeff Carpenter (Bonnie) of Terrell, Paula Lane (Michael) of Terrell and Kathy Marshall (Ron) of Hudson; his siblings, Ronnie Carpenter (Helen) of Lincolnton and Janet Spears (Doug) of Lincolnton; and his grandchildren, Bridgett, Sierra, Safari, Avery, Tiffany, Tabatha and Brittney. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
