He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Eugene Whitesides and Willie Kate Scronce Whitesides. He is survived by: his significant other Arthur Jolly; his brother Ralph "Gene" Whitesides (Diana) of Lincolnton; his niece Mecca Simmons (Tim) of Lincolnton; and his great-nephews, Alexander and Avery Simmons.
