He was predeceased by: his parents, Bergan Webb Hollifield and Nellie Stroupe Hollifield; his wife Shirley Lineberger Hollifield; his grandson Brent Heavner; and his siblings, Nora McIntyre, Barbara Hensley, Kaye Craven, Ben Hollifield and Mike Hollifield.
He is survived by: his daughter Terri Heavner (Mike) of Lincolnton; his grandchildren, Brandon Heavner (Amy) and Kayla Spencer (Tyler); his great grandchildren, Addilyn Heavner, Savannah Heavner, Grayson Spencer and Carson Spencer; and his siblings, Norma "Decia" Winkler of Granite Falls, Tony Hollifield of New Mexico and Roger Hollifield (Sue) of Oak Island. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
