It is with sadness that the passing of Ruby Gray Thompson of Linwood, North Carolina is shared. Ruby, born on December 25, 1927, passed away on August 22, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Henry and Lula Hamilton of Davie; her sister Betty Jean McCullough; her brother-in-law Carman Smith; and her grandson Zachary Kyle Thompson.
She is survived by: her children, Johnny Thompson (Ellen) and Cynthia Hammock (Steve); her sister Sylvia Smith; her grandchildren, Christy Morrow (Eric), Amy Kniaz (Greg) and Cassie Derflinger (Dustin); her great grandchildren, Lauren Leonard, Kate and Owen Kniaz; her grandchildren, Brooks, Parker, Ruby Thompson, Joshua, Este, Jonny and Isla Derflinger; her great great grandchildren, Konnor and Kyle Hurd; her nephews, Chuck and Monty Smith; Michael Hurd. She is also survived by son nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 25th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Piedmont Funeral Home (405 S Main St, Lexington, NC 27292). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, August 25th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorials be made to Alderwood of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292.
