He was predeceased by: his parents, Marie Mosely and Ralph Washington Byrd; his son Donald Ray Byrd; and his grandchildren, Anthony B. Byrd and Jessica Byrd.
He is survived by: his wife Louise Turner Byrd; his daughters, Anita Byrd Taylor (Jerry) of Holly Springs and Brenda Byrd Painter (Ray) of Belmont; and his grandchildren, April Taylor Gumaer, Kevin Taylor, Charles Painter and Christy Painter Orr.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to Liberty Home Health & Hospice of Roanoke Rapids, in his memory.
