We announce the death of Virginia Shearin Tant (Littleton, North Carolina), who passed away on June 5, 2026. Virginia will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Zander and Eva Gray Shearin; her son Mack Lewis; and her siblings, Charlie, Freeman, Whit, Garnett Shearin, Lois Willey (Roger), Maude Shearin (Clifton), Ethel Smith (Richard), Lou Val Robertson (Joe Bill) and Doris Reid (Douglas).
She is survived by: her husband Jack Braxton Tant; her children, Jack Tant (Lisa), Jean Alston (Thomas), Cheryl Triplett (Doug), Susan Whitaker (Robert) and Beth Tant; and her caregivers, Frances McNair, Tracy Flood, Patricia Champion and Evelyn Harper. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Littleton Baptist Church (108 Mosby Avenue, Littleton, NC 27850), Camp Willow Run (190 Mangum Lane, Littleton, NC 27850), or a charity of your choice.
