Hugh Brian Ray Obituary
Hugh "Brian" Ray Jr., 43, left us unexpectedly on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Brian was born on June 14, 1983 to Hugh Brian Ray, Sr. and Cathy Foster Ray.
In addition to his parents, Brian is survived by his loving wife, Laura Ray; his nephews, Jerry Wall lll "Trae" and Paxton Jayce Wall; his paternal grandmother, Pauline Burnette; his aunts and uncles, Donna Kirby (Donnie), Ann Roberts, Austin Foster (Pat), and Lane Ray (Elizabeth); his mother-in-law, Amy Upchurch; brother-in-law, Caleb Upchurch; special friend and cousin, Tasha Beer; and lifelong best friends, Jason Puryer and Daniel Puryer as well as many cousins and loved ones.
Brian was preceded in death by his sister, Melissa Ray; maternal grandparents, Claude and Frances Foster; and his paternal grandfather, Milton Thurman Ray.
A Celebration of Brian's Life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 29, 2026 in the Louisburg Chapel of Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Blvd. Louisburg NC 27549. In honor of Brian, we ask that you dress casually. The family will receive friends following the service.
Brian was a graduate of Bunn High School. After high school, he attended Vance-Granville Community College where he obtained a degree in criminal justice. Brian worked as a program analyst for the Department of Homeland Security for 23 years. He married his beautiful bride, Laura in 2021. He loved Laura with all of his heart. He loved his mom and dad and has always taken great care of them. He was a logical thinker, and very articulate with words.
Brian was a huge Ghostbusters fan. He enjoyed gaming, especially ARC Raiders and Call of Duty. Brian was funny and was the master of movie trivia. Most of all, he was kind and compassionate. He will be missed tremendously by all of his family and friends.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services of Louisburg.
