Marvin Leo Chambers Obituary
Marvin Leo Chambers, lovingly known as "Charlie" to close friends and family, peacefully departed this earth on September 17, 2025 with family by his side. He was undoubtedly greeted in Heaven by those he loved that left this world before him: His daughters, Stacy and Heather, parents, Fred and Rachel Earline, sisters, Frances, Marion, Margie and Marilyn. While those left behind mourn his loss, they rejoice in knowing he is at peace and left this world with dignity, compassion, and no pain.
Marvin was born and raised in Louisville, MS, to Fred Leo & Rachel Earline (Skinner). "Charlie" as he was nicknamed by his dad, was the 5 th of 7 children and the only boy. At 18, he left MS to join the Navy as a Submarine Sonar Technician and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He went on to become a certified welder for the next 35 years after serving our country.
He was the proud father of 3 girls: Stacy Lynn (2012) and Heather Rachel (1993) and Amanda Ostergard (Joshua) of Louisburg. His grandchildren are Christian (Madison) of Lucama, Kamryn of Greenville, Brynna of Louisburg. Being "Deddy" and "Grandaddy" was his greatest accomplishment.
His remaining sisters left behind are Margaret (Joe) and Martha, all of Louisville, MS. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and cousins across MS and the Southeast. He was known for his love of books, UNC Tarheels, his plants (that all had their own names) and good music and good food.
Marvin didn't want a funeral; he wanted people to celebrate his memory and enjoy sharing stories of his time on earth. The family will plan a private memorial for a later date and will coordinate with friends and loved ones with those plans. In lieu of flowers, any donations should be made in his memory to the Durham VA Hospital in Durham NC.
