Michael Anthony Monaco Obituary

Michael Anthony Monaco, 65, passed away on July 26, 2025 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC. Michael was born on November 25, 1959 to the late Anthony Monaco and Diana Garabedian Monaco.

Michael grew up in Woodside, Queens, alongside his two sisters and brother. From an early age, he was known for his boundless energy, love of sports, and quick wit that could bring a smile to anyone's face. Whether on the field or among friends, Michael's presence was always felt - full of laughter, heart, and determination.

In a storybook turn of fate, Michael fell in love with the girl down the lane, Mary Etienne Flynn. She was the love of his life, and together they built a beautiful life rooted in deep love and unwavering partnership. Michael and Mary raised two daughters, who were the light of his world. To them, he wasn't just a father, he was their coach, cheerleader, protector and hero.

Michael was a dedicated postal worker for 35 years, showing up day after day with commitment and pride. He worked hard every single day to support his family, providing not just through his labor but with love, integrity, and resilience. His work ethic was matched only by his devotion to those he loved.

Michael's legacy lives on in the laughter he inspired, the strength he modeled, and the deep love he gave so freely. He leaves behind a family who adored him and a lifetime of memories that will never be forgotten.

Michael is survived by his wife, Mary Etienne Flynn Monaco; his daughters, Anna Monaco, and Danielle Monaco (Bradley Patton); grandchildren, Emma, Abby and Oliver; his sisters, Judy Pecorino and Alice Monaco; and his brother, John Monaco (Annie).
