He was predeceased by: his parents, Ervin Messer and Lula Sutton Messer; and his siblings, David Messer, Louise Patrick, Marie Huffstetler and Vonona Cook.
He is survived by: his children, Lee Messer, Jr. (Jennifer), Janet Cole (Richard) and Donna Thomas (Tim Mobley); his grandchildren, Josh Cole (Kristen), Tiffany Thomas (Seeb Rauf) and Jenna Lyman (Sean); his great grandchildren, Harleigh, Caleb, Sophia, Silas, Layla, Lydia, Henry and Dylan; and his caregiver Carolyn Bradshaw.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 25th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Edgewood Cemetery (399 N Church St, Lowell, NC 28098).
