He was predeceased by: his parents, Doris Pate and Alton Walters; his stepfather Joseph Pate; his daughter Shannon Sloane; his grandson Luke Edwards; and his brothers, Thomas Walters and Steven Walters.
He is survived by: his children, Robert Dale Walters (Stephanie) of Harrisburg, NC, Nateley Kaye Villanueva (Daniel) of Lumberton, NC and Lynda Ann Sanders of Greys Creek, NC; and his siblings, Craig Pate of Goldsboro, Timothy Walters of Fayetteville, NC and Patricia McLaurin of Eastover, NC. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
