He was predeceased by: his parents, Troy Cox and Lonnie Lawson Cox; his siblings, Jon Cox, Harold Cox, Tommy Cox, Jaynell Williamson, Pearline Britt and Theta Mae Coleman; and his daughter Cheryl Cox Barnhill.

He is survived by: his wife Judy Cox; and his children, Ray Cox (Lynn) of Lumberton, NC and Bethann Perry (Walter, Jr.) of Lumberton, NC. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
