She was predeceased by: her parents, Lewis Bruce and Nora Lee Bruce; her husband George Hester; her former husband Earnest McCray; her sister Martha Bruce Byrd; her son-in-law Johnny Prevatte; and her great grandchild Chad Hunt.
She is survived by: her children, Kenneth Hester (Frances) of Virginia, Debbie Prevatte (John) of Lumberton, Teresa Johnson (Butch) of Lumberton, Betty Mayes (Larry) of Lumberton and Robin Meares (Bobby) of Lumberton; her stepson Steve McCray (Dee) of Lumberton; and her siblings, Lewis (Ed), Billy, Henry Bruce and Marion Adams Martin. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
