He is survived by: his wife Dr. Susan Edkins; his sons, Caleb Edkins, Hunter Edkins and Landon Edkins; his sisters, Delores Ralph (Walt) of Bradenton, FL and Barbara Edkins of Knoxville, TN; his mother-in-law Carolyn Christian of Burlington, NC; his brother-in-law Eric Christian (Jennifer); and his niece Kayla of Fuquay-Varina, NC..

Susan and the boys are asking that with Brian's lifelong commitment to education and young people, that in lieu of flowers, people donate to the Brian Edkins Memorial Scholarship through the Cumberland Community Foundation.
