He was predeceased by : his parents, William A. Chavis and Gertrude Ledwell Chavis; and his siblings, Moses Chavis, Sammy Chavis, Ola Pegram, Iola Chavis, Lola Hunt and Christine Locklear.
He is survived by : his wife Ruby Locklear Chavis; his sons, Bill Caleb Chavis Jr. (Gretchen) and Danny Ray Chavis (Jan Newman); his grandchildren, Dale Colleen Fudge, Brandon Paul Smith and Kendall Scott Chavis; and his great grandchildren, Jaxon Donte Fudge, Shelo Drante Fudge and Aurora Selena Smith.
