He was predeceased by: his father Rommie Lee Chavis; and his siblings, Retha Jane Chavis, Stella Rea Chavis, Francis Chavis and Roy Chavis.
He is survived by: his wife Rosie Mary Chavis; his son Thomas Lee Cummings; his great grandchildren, Sabastion Lee Cummings and Kasen Lee Cummings; his stepdaughter Dina Lynn Locklear; and his niece Penny Locklear. He is also survived by two other nieces and a nephew.
