He was predeceased by: his father Brooks Chavis; and his siblings, Donnie Lee Locklear, Troy Chavis, Robert Chavis, Rose and Evenlyn Chavis.
He is survived by: his son Donvon Locklear; and his sisters, Linda Jones (Dean) of Shannon and Catherine Deese (Alan) of Red Springs.
