Hudell Chavis Obituary

With sadness, we share the passing of Hudell Chavis of Lumberton, North Carolina. Hudell, born on November 21, 1937, passed away on September 12, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Danny Chavis and Cassie Chavis; and his siblings, Danny "Cha", Villie, Michael Chavis, Lorainne, Annie Lee Chavis, Louvenia "Ticken" Ledwell, Louise "Shine" Chavis, Ella Mae Davis, Rosetta "Dot" Garrett, Mary Magdalene "Boot" Lowery, Verona "Vee" Lee Jackson and Melba Faye Harris.

He is survived by: his wife Jean L. Chavis; his son Todd (Marie); his granddaughters, Megan Chavis and Skylar Chavis; his sisters, Judy Gorman, Barbara Strickland "Aunt Bob" (W. J.) and Patricia "Trish"; and his nephew Kenneth "Boogie" Chavis.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Bethel Hill Baptist Church (100 Church St, Shannon, NC 28386). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at the Oxendine Cemetery Chapel Community Oak Grove Church.
