He is survived by: his daughters, Paula Oxendine, Theresa Hunt (Derick) of Lumberton, NC, Christiana Claiborne (Robert) of Fountain, NC and Caitlyn Young of Fairmont, NC; his grandchildren, Derick Ray Hunt, Jr., Kiaya Bullard (Paul), Micalea Claiborne, Skylar Claiborne and Jeffrey Claiborne; his great grandchildren, Grayson Bullard, Brinxleigh Bullard and Colton McKeel; his siblings, Robert Porter of Fairmont, NC, Mitchell Ivey of Fairmont, NC, Vernon Ivey of Fairmont, NC, Jackie Strickland of Fairmont, NC, Genice "Gen" Hunt of Pembroke, NC and Delaine Strickland of Fairmont, NC; and his cousin Leon Oxendine. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
