He is survived by: his wife Peggy Miller Mercer; his children, Tim Mercer of Lumberton, NC, Jamie T. Mercer of Morehead City, NC and Debra M. Abbott; and his grandson Salvatore Roland Abbott of Oak Island, NC. He is also survived by cousins and close friends.
