She was predeceased by: her parents, Oscar Chavis and Margie Chavis; her former husband John L. Scott Jr.; her husband Edgar Ako; and her siblings, Grady, Fred, Carlis of James, H. B., Wiley Ray Chavis, Hazel Brewington and Clara Bullard.

She is survived by: her children, Kent Scott (Glois) of Lumberton, Teresa Jones (Layton) of Lumberton, Belinda Harris (Henry) of Lumberton, Bridget Scott of Lumberton and Melissa Scott of Lumberton; and her siblings, Ted Chavis, Robert "Bobby" Chavis of Lumberton, Doris Aitson, Ethel Jane Howes of Michigan and Emma Jane Taylor of Kansas. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
