He was predeceased by: his parents, Douglas Hayes and Dezzie Bodiford Hayes; his wife Elouise Lamb Hayes; his daughter Connie Sue Hayes; his siblings, Sarah Bass, Nettie Rae Brown and D. C. Hayes; and his siblings' children, Angela and Tony Watkins.
He is survived by: his granddaughter Cresa Smith Allen; his sister Helen Watkins; and his sibling's children, Patricia, Brenda, Debbie, Janice, Martin, Douglas, Carl and Charles. He is also survived by numerous great-nephews and great-nieces and many friends.
