He was predeceased by: his wife Sheila Watts; and his father Murdock K. Watts. He is survived by: his mother Mary Ellen Watts; his children, Lee Brown of Magnolia, NC, Patrick Brewer of Denver, NC and Korie Brewer of Lumberton, NC; his adoptive son John Rodwell of Lumberton; his brothers, Leon Watts of Lumberton and Ivan Watts (Kimberly) of Lumberton; and his siblings' children, Jennifer Moody and Blair Watts. He is also survived by five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
