With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Thomas J Tilman in Lumberton, North Carolina, born in Alexandria, Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 24, 2025 at the age of 70. He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Tilman and Ada Bell Bullard Tilman; and his brother Glen. He is survived by: his siblings, Alice Pope (Donald) of Gastonia, NC, Sammie Tilman (Sandra) of Lumberton, NC, Debra Hobbs (Hubert) of Wilmington, NC, Shelly Siler of Asheboro, NC and Minnie Huggins (Peter) of Wilmington, NC; and his nieces and nephews, Antwayne Tilman, Dominic Pope, Keyonna Breland, Tamika Tilman, Sammie Tilman Jr., Tony Tilman, James Tilman, Caleb Tilman, Syretta Brown, Lakeisha Tilman, Montrice Tilman, Shawntina Dennis, Shaleka Siler, John Huggins Jr., Akeya Henry and Khiry Huggins. He is also survived by many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Viewing was held on Friday, May 30th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Central & Worley Mortuary (219 E 3rd St, Lumberton, NC 28358). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Cromartie Temple (107 Lessane St, Lumberton, NC 28358).
