He was predeceased by: his wife Peggy Cox; his parents, Troy Cox and Retha Allen Butler; and his brothers, Wilbert Lee Butler (Buck Allen), Donald Gene Allen and Charlie Cox Butler.
He is survived by: his children, Tommie Lynn Chavis of Hillsborough, Rhonda Gail Ransom of Fairmont and Lori Ann Oxendine of Pembroke. He is also survived by four grandchildren and eight great-granchildren.
