Viola Herndon Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Viola Herndon of Lumberton, North Carolina, who passed away on August 15, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Danny Hugh McGirt and Mattie Bell Clark McGirt; her husband John Henry Herndon; and her siblings, James Howard McGirt, Dovie McGirt-Johnson, Carl Ledford McGirt, Barnie Hugh McGirt and Annie McGirt-St. Martin.
She is survived by: her siblings, David McGirt, Doris McGirt-Worley and Edward McGirt; her children, John Herndon, Lorie Herndon, Michael Herndon and Chad Herndon (Sheri Dial Herndon); and her stepson Talford Jacobs (Carolyn Brewer Jacobs). She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews and her softball family.
