He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Lee Wilson and Ruby Brim Wilson; his daughter Candice Wilson; his sister Elizabeth "Lib" Dalton; and his brother-in-law John Dalton.

He is survived by: his wife Pamela Richardson Wilson; his sons, Donnie "DJ" Junior Wilson, II and Eric Wilson (Joanna); his grandchildren, Dylan Wilson and Bowen Wilson; and his siblings, Robert Wilson (Evon), Doug Wilson (Patricia), Ricky Wilson (Sylvia) and Garnet Rash (Joe). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
