She was predeceased by: her parents, Ned Caldwell and Josephine Ewart; her son Shane Messer; and her siblings, Jack Caldwell, Dale Caldwell and Linda Mitchell.
She is survived by: her husband Ronald "Ronnie" Mathis; her sons, Allen Jenkins (Velvet), Scott Jenkins (Mandy), Shae Mathis and Shawn Mathis (Krystina); and her grandchildren, Josh, Justin, Chase, Amber, Bobby, Kaitlin, Leigha, Molly, Nora, Scarlette, Serenity, Ellie Maye, Kade and Kye. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Smoky Mountain Cremations and Funeral Service (3732 Soco Rd, Maggie Valley, NC 28721).
