Irene left this world on October 24, 2025 at the age of 100, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Eldridge Thornton and Pearl Boyd Thornton; her husband Bill Hinson; her siblings, Elaine Coulter, Helen Williams, Hazel Perkins, Ruby Biggerstaff and Boyd Thornton; and her great grandchild Riley Howard.
She is survived by: her daughters, Nina Ilene Drum (Everett) of Newton, Cathy Lou Franklin-Griffin (Harry) of Connelly Springs and Bobbie Irene McNeil (Clayton) of Six Mile; her grandchildren-in-law, Lisa Howard Adams (David), Michael Howard (Kristy), John Eric Franklin (Kimberly), Jennifer Mcneil and Jobie Henderson (Matt); her great grandchildren, Lindsay (Scott), Corey, Shayne (Jenna), Carly, Ethan, Cole, Thomas Clayton, Sophia Evelyn, Jackson, Sam, Natalie and Luke; and her great great grandchildren, Ian, Connor, Gavin and Thomas Michael.
Visitation was held on Sunday, October 26th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Memorial Reformed Church (201 E Main St, Maiden, NC 28658). A funeral service was held on Monday, October 27th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, October 27th 2025 at the St. Matthew's Reformed Church (4575 Maiden Hwy, Maiden, NC 28650).
