She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Lee Wilson and Bessie Hamby Wilson; and her siblings, Ivey Wilson (Viana), Ernest Wilson, Roby Wilson (Catherine), Edna Wilson Setzer (Bryant), Beulah Wilson Childress (Homer), Johnsie Wilson McMahon (Mac) and Beadie Wilson Jarrett (Jim).

She is survived by: her spouse Reid Herbert Laney; her children, Dr. Reid Wilson Laney (Gail) of Raleigh, NC and Patricia Laney Sykes (late James) of Lawrenceville, Georgia.; and her grandchildren, Jamie Renee (Sykes), Wrenn (Jay) of Lynchburg, Virginia, Jonathan Patrick Sykes (Adrian) of Jefferson, Georgia and Jessica Alyson (Sykes).
