He was predeceased by: his parents, James Darrell McAlister and Patricia Ann Cline McAlister; and his wife Deborah "Debbie" Carpenter McAlister. He is survived by: his children, Matthew Steven McAlister (Marie) of Maiden and Stephanie McAlister (Arron Wise) of Maiden; his siblings, Mike McAlister (Amy) of Maiden and Pam Rutherford (Roger) of Morganton; and his grandchildren, Kamdyn O'Brien and Macie McAlister.
