It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Ailene Dickens Hawkins (Manteo, North Carolina), born in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, who passed away on January 15, 2023, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, Iola Stenson Dickens and Joe Butts Dickens; and her husband Howard M. Hawkins. She is survived by : her son Joseph E. Hawkins (Jana) of Manteo; her grandchildren, April Ball and Zack Hawkins; her great grandchildren, Trey, Kami, Aldyn Ball, Fiona and Rowan Hawkins; and her sister Janie Riddle of Weldon, NC..
