He was predeceased by: his father Roy Allen Buchanan; and his wife Barbara "Jean" Poteat Buchanan. He is survived by: his stepchildren, Brenda Worley (Henry) of Marion, Jeff Moore (Charlotte) of Marion and Terry Moore of Marion; and his siblings, Gail Hall of Marion and Fred Buchanan of Lenoir. He is also survived by six step grandchildren; and sixteen step great grandchildren.
