She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Leonard Brown and Irene Gilbert Brown; her former husband Richard Donald Barrett; her husband Theophilus Walton Clapp, Jr.; and her sister Margaret Brown Norris.
She is survived by: her stepchildren, T. Walton Clapp III (Betty) of Raleigh, Rebecca C. Taylor (Ray) of Spruce Pine and Anne C. Brown (William) of Nebo; and her close friend Karen Holtsclaw. She is also survived by Eight step grandchildren; 13 step great grandchildren and 2 step great great grandchildren.
