He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Burnette and Frances Robinson Burnette; and his brothers-in-law, Tommy Gibson and Eddie Epley. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Miller Burnette; his daughter Sarah Newton (Chris); his grandchildren, Christopher Newton and Gina Newton; and his sister Pat Epley.
