He was predeceased by: his parents, Loyd Hunley and Hazel Melton Hunley; his children, Larry, Lester, Margaret and Elizabeth; his stepsons, Jerry and Paul Flynn; and his brothers, James Allen and Willie Harris.

He is survived by: his wife Tempie Moore Hunley; his son Lucky Hunley of Hildebrand; his stepdaughter Rose Davis (Dallas) of Marion; his parents-in-law, Beverly Flynn and Glenda Flynn; his sisters, Judy Lindsay of Nebo and Jean Hicks; and his daughter Dorothy Burnette.
