It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ruth Ellen Smith McKinney of Marion, North Carolina, who passed away on February 22, 2023, at the age of 66, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Cloyd Vestal Smith and Jennie Gurley Smith; her granddaughter Kayla Bowling; and her brothers, Rex Smith, Buddy Smith and Tommy Smith.
She is survived by: her husband Terry Hughes McKinney; her children, Debra Parker (Jonathan), Jennie Lynn Upton (Jason) and Rana Newton (Paul); her siblings, Wren Smith (Katie), Judy Buchanan (David), Ruby Barlowe, Gail Patterson (Rick), Vickie Sanders and Jennie Jo Kreigh; and her grandchildren, Courtney Sexton, Dylan Parker, Rylan Parker, Samantha Pruitt, Cody Harwood and Allen Newton. She is also survived by her family and many friends.
