He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Coates and Bonnie Coates; and his siblings, Verlon Coates and Lucille Metcalf. He is survived by: his wife Christean Bradley Coates; and his siblings, Luther "Capp" Coates (Jolene) and Jeanette Coates. He is also survived by nephews and nieces.
